Right On Schedule
So, insulin resistance starts around 20 weeks. Yup. Friday morning woke up, my BG was up. Had breakfast. Still up. Lunch. Up. After lunch WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY up. Called diabetic nurses. Insulin has been increased. Nurse I spoke to said that it probably meant the baby was having a growth spurt. Fine with me! 2.5 days until [...]

Well, The Scale Might Not Be Moving
although I haven’t been on it for a few days, but the trousers that were sliding down last week are now almost too tight. Time to move some of the interior buttons, me thinks! Lots and lots of movement, which is great. Just not at 3am! Just under a week until the ‘big scan’. And, [...]

Letter to My Baby – Gestational Week 19
Dear Baby I’ve been wanting to write to you for awhile, so we can look back together when you’re older and you’ll know how it felt to have you inside of me. But I was afraid to until I got that glorious number last week, that 1:1002 of low risk for genetic disorders. If the [...]

Not A Good Weekend
My Aunt died Saturday night. She had MS and caught pneumonia and she never recovered from it. She died in her daughter’s arms. I am really wrecked. Not just because I am sad to lose her but because I can’t be with my family. Her funeral is tomorrow in Boston and there is just no [...]

The One Thing I Have Not Mentioned On Here
in terms of the pregnancy, is my age. You see, in case you didn’t know, I’ll be 40 in, oh, about 12 days. And as a 40 year old women having a baby? A lot of genetic risk factors increase. Down Syndrome, for example, because I am 40, is an automatic risk of 1:100. So [...]

On Antenatal Classes and Physio
So Tuesday night Simon and I attended a one time only Early Pregnancy Class. I think, at 18 weeks, its a bit late for it, but it was nice to learn a bit more about the hospital and such. I also learned that non-high risk women almost never see a midwife or OB until they [...]

The Baby Seems To Like Obama
As he/she was wiggling like crazy during the speech yesterday! Also felt some movement when Aretha Franklin was singing. In other news, very unhappy at the news that Simon’s Great Aunt’s flat was broken into and this poor 91 year old woman was pushed down and had her hip broken by these punk kids. Way [...]

Watching History Being Made…With My Stream Of Conciousness
However, I am not watching it on Sky News. Their commentator needs a valium. A very large one. So I am watching on CNN. And let me see if I’ve got this right…Cheney was moving a box and hurt his back? So the day before you are no longer VP of the US you become [...]

Wiggled And Jiggled And Tickled Inside Her…
That’s what the baby moving feels like right now. Its so cool. Successfully purchsed new underthings yesterday. Not entirely attractive, but at least they fit! Still having massive fatigue. I’m waiting, impatiently, for the 2nd trimester burts of energy everyone talks about. I don’t think I am going to get it.

Off Shopping Today
I was hoping I could go a few more weeks without replacing my underthings, but this week and bras cutting into me have proven me wrong. Simon is grinning at this. Boys! To answer Astá’s question: US requires that my name on the baby’s social security application match with my marriage license/passport. And it doesn’t! [...]
